Hi -
I know nothing about motorcycles. I'm a romance author and need some advice on bikes for a new book I'm writing. What would be a really cool vintage Harley - make/model/year/type . I'm looking for something powerful but sleek. A bike that could have been lovingly restored. A bike that would be easily recognizable by others for what it was - a great looking, highly valued classic. A collectors item but rode by a man who valued the bike and the freedom he found riding it.What ever typle/model of bike you choose to tell me about - where can I take a look at one on the net? I need to be able describe it in detail.
Thanks for your help!!

Nothing prettier than an old Knucklehead or panhead. Google searches will get you all the pictures you need.
Look at the history of Harley on this forum. That would be a good place to start. The link is in the heading at the top of this page.

Just don't put Fabio sitting on one on the cover, holding a tub of butter.

msdmr: While several H-D models would probably 'work' in your book with the proper setting, IMHO only one bike is what you described world wide. It is the English made Vincent Black Lightning. Last made about 1952. Recently restored VBLs have sold for over $150k. Talk to Jay Leno. He has a very nice one. The engine and engineering were well ahead of the rest of the pack. Google and Wickipedia are the two best sources of internet info. The local library should have copies of books on Vincent HRD motorcycles for your perusal. Many of the larger motorcycle museums have examples............... Big Cholla
