Mine really sucked, especially after I got back from my last tour and the ex over extended my credit..and didn't pay any bills for a year. Only thing I got was my old truck and a bunch of old military junk she threw in storage and I had to pay to even get into it. After 16 months of ramen noodles and making do in a nice little trailer park I was ablesave and payoff a bunch of bills. Now I am enjoying my life and able to have what I always wanted...a F150 and nice bike. Hopefully will be able to save on this next deployment. Oh sorry I digress my credit score 384 when I came off the plane. Capitol One helped me when no one else would, they also financed my truck. Good luck.

Wow, now that is a good story. Bike credit is generally hard to get. I have been turned by Bombardier/Greentree on 6 of the last 9 bikes I've bought. My scores during the time frame ranged from around 500 to 670. The last 3 bikes I bought either cash or financed through my credit union. I've had one bike financed through Harley Credit. All the rest were through my own bank connections. Sometimes the terms were a bit shorter, but the interest rate was the best. Capital One had my credit cards and they were good to me. Don't rule out your home bank.

Capitol One had high rates when I looked if I remember correctly, and my credit pretty good. I ended up going with my local credit union and got 5.49%, which was the best rate I found.

My last bike was financed thru Cap 1. I got 7.9% and my credit score was 585 at the time. That was pretty good for me. Like someone else had stated, military and divorces usually go south pretty fast. MIne did the same, overextended credit and charged every card I owned to the max while I was gone. Guess her boyfriend needed some nice stuu. [:@]Took me almost 8 years to get my credit back up. I'm cruising in the 700s now though. WOOHOO!!!

I financed mine through HD and got 6.99% not sure exactly what my score is but it should be pretty high as I've never had any bad credit.
I tried my bank first (Wachovia) and those bastages said it would be between 11.9-13.9% and I've been with them for over 15 years. Thanks but no thanks.

I could have gotten 8.1% thru Capital One, but squeezed 7.9% out of EagleMark (HD), and I paid $4000 down ... "I'll have to call my regional manager at HD to see if we can beat that." Yeah ... riiiiight.

I paid cash for my bike, thank God. But here is a tool that works well...

Play the credit companies against each other. Tell 'em you have an offer of 7% and want to know if they can meet or beat the offer. I have a buddy that is a lender. He said they do it all the time.

Same goes for credit card rates. Call and negotiate lower rates. There are tons of deals out there... just pick up the phone.
