THE TRUTH ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON PERFORMANCE

RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON PERFORMANCE
Having ridden a pan, a shovel, an evo and now a twin cam, I have no problem with the performance of my current bike, not to mention the reliability. I think it's natural for us to always want more, it makes us want to tinker and sqeeze every drop of power out of an engine. With the pipes, AC and P/C, I have plenty of power to haul myself and a passenger through the mountains atlegal (and sometimes illegal) speeds.

RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON PERFORMANCE
I currently ride a 2003 VTX1800S Great bike, more power than I will ever need looks sharp but.......
average30 mpg unless I want to lay out the big bucks for a fuel management system, and the stock seat is no prize because after a 300 mile ride my and my wifes a$$ is looking for lazyboy once again big bucks to upgrade. Last month we rented a 2007 Electra Glide Classic for a couple of days totaly stock, no complaints from the wife and she was sorry we had to return it, last week we ordered a 08 Ultra Classic for delivery next April.

RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON PERFORMANCE
I, for one, am glad the OP started this thread. I get so tired of people just blindly accepting the common wisdom that all metrics are faster or more powerful than HD's.It's true that people looking for true speed shouldn't be looking in this class of motorcycles, but since so many people seem to think that HD is "behind the times" with their bikes, it's about time somebody put up some actual facts. I certainly understand that not everybody wants what HD has to offer, but I think quite a few people make the decision to buy another brand of cruiser because they think they are getting more performance for less money. They may be spending less, but generally they aren't getting more. Heck, the MSRP's of the other manufacturer's top line/comparable cruisers aren't all that far apart from HD prices these days.

RE: THE TRUTH ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON PERFORMANCE
I don't want to go 188mph on 2 wheels, and I don't want to do the quarter mile in less than 10 seconds on 2 wheels.
