Carefree looks to crack down on

Offenders could soon walk away with a Class 1 misdemeanor, instead of a civil citation, when the changes take effect in early November. Violators also could be fined as much as $2,500
in fines, receive as much as three years probation or land in jail for up to 180 days.
Currently, a first-time offense carries a fine of up to $175,
according to the Carefree town code.

That's ridiculous.
180 days in JAIL for loud pipes?
No wonder we have an imprisonment-rate problem in this country.
Why do we need new laws and regulations for this? Can't we just cite them for disturbing the peace or whatever generic law we have if the sound is completely unreasonable and be done with it?
It's a shame the Free State Project chose New Hampshire instead of a low population Western-U.S. state or I'd be there. This stuff is nuts.
