Balaclava (generally fleece) is MUCH better than Neoprene, but they both work great and are essential for cold weather activities. Mt. Warfare Winter phase balachlava is standard issue. Check out: rei.com or ems.com

Don't belive it was "cotton",cotton absorbs moisture and you will freeze ur *** off. Probably one of thesynthetic masks.

They work great, especially in the rain as they do not get soaked.

Fleece still lets the wind penetrate through, the neoprene stops wind and rain from coming through.

Recommended highly,

I've got the wicked clown mask. I had to open the nose and mouth to allow for adequate breathing. It is fleece lined andwarm in weather in the 30's & 40's. My glasses can fog up depending on the wind flow. I like the mask - a full face probably works better though ......

The part I like best is seeing peoples expressions when they see the evil clown face on the mask.

I wear a full face, but my face still gets cold. I was wondering how these work under a full face helmet. I'll have to try it.

I have a neoprene mask with a built-in neck gaiter. Kept my face warm riding in 7ยบ weather.

Got both neoprene and fleece. If I had to choose one it would be neoprene. Works in cold and wet.

Fleece does feel better against your face and will keep you warm under most circumstances.
