Spending money on mods and parts
How many of you have a hard time hiding new mods or parts from your spouse? I recently got busted when I put about $2G's of stuff on the wrong credit card. Stupid,Stupid.Stupid. How do you guys do it? I don't want to hear that you don't give a crap what your wife says.

My wife (#2) and I have an agreement , we keep our finances seperate and pay the bills jointly . I don't mess with the $$$$ she spends on her 4 show horses , she doesn't mess with the $ for my bike . It works well

RE: Spending money on mods and parts
I used to try to hide most of my purchases because the wife just could not understand that I NEEDED the stuff. After many years of sneaking, I felt terrible about it and decided to end the relationship and move in with a wonderful woman who has her own Harley and does understand. Now we go to the dealers together and even help each other pick out stuff for each others bikes. Life can be very very good!

See, there was your first mistake.... $2K all at once....! You have to buy it a piece or two at a time so it looks like it was there the whole time.

My wife and I are both retired and luckily our retirement income is more than enough for us to live on. We also both work part time jobs so our agreement is that we split our part time pay checks 50/50 and that is our money to do with whatever we want, no questions asked.

There was a really long thread on the dyna forum on this topic. The best reply was from a guy who said he waited until his wife was on his bike. Then he'd fiddle with the brakes and look down a lot. "New brakes" became a great excuse to spend mone on the bike because she coulsn't argue the safety aspect of it.
