The power commander is a unit that intercepts the signal from the ecu. It is changed according to the map in the PC before sending to the injectors, ect.
Some swear by them, some swear at them.
The race tuner is an interface to the ecu. It has software that allows you to change the map's to compensate for changes you have made to the motorcycle.
Either one should be dyno'd for optimum performance.
I have the sert. I choose it because there is a record function. I hook it up wrap my laptop in a towel and put it in my saddle bag. It records what's going on during the ride.
I can review and modify the current map. Then reload the changes.
For the cats meow look at the thundermax. Price is high. But it can be configured to tune itself. No Dyno cost.
Good luck

PCIIIusb here and love it, I guess it could bole down to who can tune the sert well in your area, the tech at our dyno dealership say's there a pain in the *** to dial in, takes about twice as long as a PC.

Everyone says the thundermax is high, but if you look at the bottom line and factor in a dyno tune you are about the same price and don't have to wonder it the tuner is good or not.
