Boots- flat sole or lugs?

RE: Boots- flat sole or lugs?
I always wear my lug soles when riding and until this morning I never gave it a thought, I went out to the garage to get the lawn mower out and was wearing my flat soled work boots and had to back my bike out in order to get at the mower, as I was backing out I stepped on a pile of pine needles and ended up with several hundred pounds of bike lying on my left leg, after a few choice words and my buddy next door helping me get the bike off of me I figured out what happened and changed boots and no more slippage on the needles so I say LUGS.

Lugged Sole. I wear Hermans Survivors (now out of business) with lugged Vibram sole. They are great to walk on ice, and they help when riding the hog. The lugs are close enough together that they don't catch on anything, but I've found that they are exceptionally good when putting your foot down on something slippery. You feel that it's slippery, but rarely does your foot go out from under you, which kinda can make the bike come down on top of you...

I've got some steel-toed work boots from Worx, which is made by Red Wing Shoes. They are lugged, of course, and are oil, flame, crush, and partially chemical resistant. They stick pretty well to slick surfaces like small gravel and even oil. My foot has slid a couple times and I'll think I'm going down, but the boot will catch at the last second, and I love it every time. I just hope the sole doesn't wear out LOL
