at the cottage i have a scooter for beach cruisin'. it carries lounge chairs and a cooler and big beach towels. in the snowy months i gear up in a snowmobile suit and soft armour andgauntlet gloves and plow through the snow and sand on my klr 650. big fun. i love the snow.
well, since i can't afford a 'winter bike', i'm stuck parking mineonce the snow starts and they start salting the roads. i have an armored snowmobile suit that i wore a couple times but i got too hot. so now i just layer.

if we didn't have over 100" of snow a year and they didn't pour on salt like it was free, i'd ride all winter long.

but they put so much salt on the roads that i have already rust on my '07. [:@]

soyou're telling me that you commute all winter long through the snow? how many inches of snow do you get there?

I'll tell you this. I am a biker. I've been riding for over 26 years and even served time on the back of Detroit Police bikes. I served in the military and there was numerous times I was cold, wet and uncomfortable both in the military and on the DPD. By the way the DPD used to ride from first thaw to first snow, do have any idea how cold it gets in Michigan for how long before it ever snows? In the military and in law enforcement I was required to endure the cold and wetness. I'm not now, I'm a self employed software engineer, I can afford a vehicle or two that have windows, windshielf wiper blades and a heater. I don't ride when it is below 40 and I don't ride in the rain unless I can't help it. I will not be cold, wet, tired, hungry or generally uncomfortable any more, period. If this makes me a RUB or a Poser in your book then I want to be placed on page one of that book. It will have to be for a really good reason for me to get on the bike when the temps are below 40 and or it is raining out. Escort duty for dignitaries and funerals is about it.

Oh, you are going to love this, because this makes me the ultimate RUB/Poser. I go to bike rallies but I don't camp, remember, I will not be cold, hungry or uncomfortable. I stay in a hotel or motel how unbiker of me. Also, when I am at the hotel/motel I leave the bike in the parking lot and I never roll it into the room. I guess in your eyes that is just plain horrible and I should turn in my leathers, sell both Harleys and ride a Vespa huh???

Thank you sir. You are gentleman and a scholar!!!

Now then, since it has been determined from the prospect that I am not a biker, I guess I'll go wash the grease out of my hair. Heck, I might even comb it too!!!
