I hate ridin at nite on back roads especially in late fall around here (North Central NC)cuz of the friggin deer. Seems to be more and more of them every year....I guess global warming is good for deer!

 

No night rides for me unless its an emergency. Just this week Ive stopped riding to work in the morning when I work days cause its gotten so dark at 6 AM when I leave. Too many deer and recaps around our roads. When I go on nights next week Ill probably ride again but still be on the look out for Bambi.

 

Maybe it's because I'm getting a little older, and maybe it's new headlight technology, but I'm finding that it's getting harder to see road hazards in the glare of oncoming headlights. Things that you can run over in a car or truck can take you down on a bike, so my answer to the original question is: I'm definitely a daytime rider.

 

Not sure about the safety factor, but I prefer riding at night just cause I like it (hate the twisties at night though).

 

I like riding during the day better than night , Its the unknown things , animals , debris in the road that concern me most , does not take much to bring you down . Hi- Beams ALWAYS on at night unlessin the city .I drive so defensively cagers are not a great concern to me .

 

Daytime here is waaaaay better! Too many bugs, coons, possums and lots and lots of deer! Hardly ever ride at night !

 

I don't feel as comfortable at night.

 

In the car I have ALWAYS preferred to travel at nite. Less traffic to deal with, PLUS the kids sleep on the trip.

On the bike? Too many critters waiting to cross right in front of ya.

 

On the contrery....the Turkey is one of the smartest birds there is. In preparation for a turkey hunt years ago we were shown a documentary film about how smart they actually are. The fact that Ben Franklin wanted to make it the National Bird instead of the Bald Eagle attests to the fact.

 

Dont know if I feel safer, but I do enjoy riding at nite. Dont know if I enjoy it more than during the day.
