Why is it that most HD riders scoff at what a helmet does ordoesn't dofor you in a crash?

I frequent several sport bike forums, as well as being a sport bike rider/racer myself.
Most sport bike riders wear full face helmets and leathers ora good racing jacket.......and ALL that crash THANK their helmet and gear for saving their life.
The trend in the sport bike world is leaning more to full gear and helmets.

I KNOW wearing a hat will not always save your life, especially in an extreme impact.
My best friend died when he went off the road on his Dyna and hit a light pole head first......helmet did not help in his case.
I stepped off in a road race once at around 120 and aside from some bruises and road chaffe the leathers and helmet saved my life.

You're absolutely right. It's ignorant to argue with facts.

 

I hate a helmet. Just uncomfortable as hell for me. Given the choice, I'd ride without. If it cost me severe injury or death,.....well,....thats a chance I'm well aware I'm taking.

 

Because we are hard headed and sports bike riders are pussies.

That's why.

Vanity, I don't like having helmet head. And I don't think it is going to do that much for me in a crash anyway.
