My reference to the idiot pol probably getting scared on the way home was from what just happened here in MA. Some idiotstate rep on his way to "work" saw some kid about 5 on the back of a bike with an adult and decided that this was "insane and irresponsible". Hestarted a bill when he got to "work" tomake it illegal for children under16 to be allowed on the back ofmotorcycles!!More bs from idiots in gubmit thatare either trying to run your life and/or steal your money.
I didn't hear about that, but that really sucks. I just saw a guy in our neighborhood the other day with his maybe 10 year old son on the front of the bike, him in the middle, and the younger son on the back holding onto him. They just putted around the neighborhood for about 30 minutes and the kids were having a blast. They both had their bicycle helmets on, of course, and it was very responsible looking...those kids were having so much fun. It's a shame "adults" like to take this freedom away from responsible people.

I can see how you can get clocked at 30mph over. The highway speed limit is around 65 and you are doing 70-75, then you hit that little town on the road with no red light and no stop sign and the speed limit drops down to 45 mph for about 1/4 mile.

There was a town outside Houston and there was a large sign thatread, "Welcome to Waller, drive slowand see our town. Drive fast and see our judge." And there was a policeman behind the sign 24/7.

What happens when an officer sees your bike and decides he wants it? Where is the proof you were going 30 mph over?

He probably won't have much time to ride it when they pop his *** and he's sitting in jail beside ya.

I guess the moral of the story is Don't Drive Like a Fuching Idiot, and you won't have to worry about it.
nope. the moral of the story is that if you drive like a fuching idiot in your SUV, pickuptruck, sports car, or any vehicle other than a motorcycle, its all good, you just get a ticket, but if you do _THE SAME THING_ on a MOTORCYCLE, they confiscate it.

the reason they specify only motorcycles to be singled out for confiscation is that they expect most car and SUV to be more than happy to throw us under the bus as long as it doestn apply to them. for someone who rides to support this is unthinkable.

anyone who supports extra penalties for motorcycle *that dont apply to cars and trucks* shows their true colors as anti-motorcycle regardless of what or how many bikes they have in their garage.

Ok, I thought it would be a good idea to write and express some displeasure over this propossed legislation. Here is the response from the sponsor of this:

Subject: Motorcycle bill

Dear Mr. xxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for your Email about my proposed legislation. I have chosen to focus on motorcycles for a few reasons first, motorcycles are a separately licensed class of driver in this state second, motorcycles can accelerate at a much higher rate of speed then cars and third, I have never seen a car being driven down the expressway on its two side tires at 100 + mph but I have several times seen motorcyclist doing wheelies at 100+ MPH down the road.

I do not understand why Motorcyclists are up in arms about this legislation if you are a law abiding citizen, as I am sure you are, this legislation would not apply to you.

All this being said I am open to meeting with the representatives of the AMA or any other group to discuss amendments to the bill. I am going to move forward in enacting stricter penalties for the riders who blatantly use our roadways as there own personal racetracks.

Regards,

Carlos Lopez-Cantera
State Representative
District 113
From what I can tell, the Bill has only been filed and has not even had it's first hearing. Here is the web site for this guy.

This guyis afreaking Realtor from Miami. Time to write the representatives from my district.

The video is all fine and dandy, but if some guy that's pissed at you, a bike owner, for ,say, not letting your daughter date him, or cause you have a nicer bike than him, or cause he's drunk and wants to push you off the road, and you outrun him to avoid a violent confrontation, and you can't prove that this was the instance then you get to lose your bike and freedom. I hate mandatory laws. They are BS and treat the world like it should be blind to everything but what the writer of that law wants them to see, or be. BS.
You know that someone that is connected to a politician or cop will not be punished, yet the other guy gets royally screwed. I call foul[sm=nothatway.gif]
There are those guys like in the video that should be disciplined, but it's just like guns. When guns are illegal, only outlaws with have them, not really buy I forsee alot more cops being shot at when they start seizing and jailing people that don't like being restricted. I don't think that's the way it should actually go, but just see if it isn't so if they pass a law like that. I'm not down for laws that 'encourage' violence.
BTW if a cop persuesat high speed where I grew up, the judge will get rid of him. They have radios for that stuff. (the wrecked cop in the video) Judge says the public is at too great a risk, but he will also hammer the speeder when the get him...

Sorry, but I don'tbuy the part that my doing 85 in a 55 and minding my own businessallows them to steal my bike.
What do you think would be appropriate for doin 85 on a public road? Fine? How about for a second, third offense? Just curious.
How about a frreakin ticket? What do you want, cut off the guy's throttle hand?!!!

That was a dumb question.

Most places, that Officer would be prohibited from purchasing any items he was involved in the seizure of. And quite frankly, I doubt you are gonna find an Officer that is willing to (at the least), risk a 45k a year job for a 15k bike.
