I always cut off the engine in neutral like the owners manual says, then I put it in gear before I get off. seems to make sense. Why DID the MSF/Rider's Edge say to put it in neurtal??

Almost always in neutral. Just the way I do it. Why in gear?? Some people worry to much. It takes a pretty good incline to get the bike to roll. If I have to park where there is no curb on an incline I'll leave it in first just to be safe but I usually don't worry about it that much.

I park in neutral , don't park on hills if I have any other option ! Just out of curiosity , why were the Riders Edge instructors insistant that bikes be parked in neutral ?

prob beacuse new riders have a habbit of forgetting to pull in the clutch when starting. my german friends are near **** about leaving there bikes in netral, never asked why, but i will now!

really makes no sence at all to me, but to each their own!

I always mount my bike from the left and the first handmotion is grabing the clutch before mounting the bike. I guess that's just the way I do it. As for parking in gear. Always when ever it's out of the garage. Just my way and, who say's it's wrong. I don't.

Always in gear, even in the garage. Always start in neutral with the clutch in. Been doing it that way for so many years it's just automatic.

exactly, if you keep it in gear all the time, it becomes automatic to check it before starting, so no problems forgetting it. it becomes automatic.

folks that only put their bike in gear on hills are the ones that forget to take it out of gear because its not habit.

to that end, this is a manual transmission vehicle. its pretty much always supposed to be in gear. clutch in at stoplights, ready to go. mostly the only time mine is in neutral is when im warming it up.
