What does "one off" mean?
Been watching some of the custom build shows and they keep using the term "one off" as in "one off custom." What does that mean?

RE: What does "one off" mean?
Meaning that some one ( more than likely not them) made a part just for them to a certain spec that they supplied. Like my rear fender that I made could be called o ne off I guess . But that is the meaning

Yeh, your both right. Seems that over the years it's turned into "one off" , but then again it too is appropriate, as in "one off the the assembly process "that is unique or that may be a prototype for future production.

"One Off" is the term used for manufacturing only 1 item of a particular item. This phrase was first used by Henry Ford when he was designing new car models, parts, etc. He would build a prototype model of something and if he did not like it, he toke it off the bench and shelved it. Therefore coining the term "1-Off".
