There are two distinct groups where fatalities are out of proportion: The sport bike riders, especially among young riders, and inexperienced riders older than 40 . They are skewing the stats for the rest of us who have ridden for years.
According to this piece of FUD:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1190...62.html?mod=to

Deaths amongst rides under 30 is dropping. While there was a lot of mentions of sport bikes there were no statics directly linking sport bikes and fatality rates.

The hurt report has a great deal of flawed science in it. I'm not going to get into a debate out it ... there needs to be a more recent and comprehensive study if someone wants to argue "facts". In any case .... it should be a personal choice and I'm glad I live in a state that recognizes this.
As it is a peer reviewed scientific study out of USC, I'd be curious to find out what the flawed science is. It is a bit outdated(rider demographics in particular), but the science was sound and the data good for when it was published. I look forward the the Oklahoma study.
