I'm afraid to add it up considering all the chrome do-dads and engine work I've done. [sm=bangbang.gif]

Adds up quick, don't it?! I got 20% off anything bought with the bike. I spent about an extra $1600 on seat, detachable windshield, forward controls, flame grips and pegs, highway bars, stage 1 kit and remap, and slip ons. Could have been worse!
Of course I've bought a bunch of chrome after the purchase. I quit trying to count!

I lost track! Mostly aftermarket, but a few grand went to Harley as well!

I guess a rough figure would be about $4,000 of the shiney stuff.

Default Not any more!

I bought a 2004 Softail Standard in '03 for MSRP. My plan was to do a mild custom on it. I bought a lot of my parts on ebay and a local dealer here on the coast has a 50% off sale once a year, so I bought from him too. When I sat down and figured what I had in the bike it was almost $20,000 and I still hadn't done the paint yet.
I have since sold the bike for far less than I had in it and bought a used '01 Heritage that had a few nice accessories added. Now my attitude is "If it isn't for comfort or performance, I don't need it".
I have only added a Sundowner seat that I bought on ebay for $90.
As someonce recently told me, no one really gives a damn what your bike looks like except you.

It's intentional MOCO attitude... They sell you a $20K bike with a brake pedal that looks like it came off a '56 Ford Pickup, crappy rubber grips, and ugly, cheap crap all over. We ALL spend a ton getting rid of that stuff (I'm probably $4k into mine with the engine mods).

They call it "personalization" of your bike.... I call it "rip off". My Indian came with tons of billet and chrome right from the factory.

And even though I think it's cheesy of the MOCO, I still do it.... I guess they figured that....

Got more into it I care to think about. Did some of the BIGGIES right away just to get it out of the way. Handle bars with braided cables, billet forward controls and 3-inch extensions, the Harley tax of course. Still need soooooooo much more. I'm sure I've hit $3000.00 + already

My bike is new to me so...... Way too much so far, replaced pretty much all of the chrome you see in the pic plus the other side to match. Don't know if I want to tally it up, I may get depressed.
