Why I dont ride in groups

RE: Why I dont ride in groups
Reading stories like this sends a chill down my spine everytime. Plain and simply don't ride with dangerous groups. I ride with plenty of good, cautious riders. Don't put all group riding in this catagory.

RE: Why I dont ride in groups
Sounds like everyone was on a different page and there was no table of contents.
It may have been a group of bikes but it does not sound like any group ride in which I have been a participant.
Whoever was leading should have done a preride brief and explain the do's and don'ts.
I have done several hundred mile group rides without any problems because everyone knew and followed the process.

I understand totally what your saying. The only big ride I will ride in is the Ride for Kids, very well organized.I have two or three friends I will ride with, but half the time I'm alone. Ride Safe Jrsess

RE: Why I don't ride in groups
I haven't ridden in a group yet and was actually thinking about this while riding with my wife on the back this weekend. I may ride with a close friend or two with a good understanding of the rules before the ride but that is about it for me. To me riding is the freedom of stopping or driving at the speed I want without looking to see what someone else is doing.

RE: Why I don't ride in groups
Just depends on the riders and the group.I ride twice a month with the club I belong too.(SCRC) We take no more than 10 bikes in a group, but allways have a meeting before the ride.I rode in a charity ride this past weekend with over 600 bike without a hitch. But I know what you mean about the morrons you were talking about.Leave them at home.

RE: Why I don't ride in groups
Normally I ride with my brother. We have ridden together for years now going back to our crotch rocket days. Personally, I don't like riding in groups of more than 6. And I sure don't like these guys who ride at 70MPH 2 feet behind you. Sousually I tend to stay in the back of the group. Once my brother asked me "why are you always in back" and I told him "so when some idiot does go down, or take someone out, I'll be able to avoid it possibly".....

I much prefer riding alone
so no one can see me slip up when I duck walk or put both feet down at a stop.
