I much prefer a nice Bobber instead.
The newest chopper trend seems to be the *drop seat* style. The bikes just are not practical for any distance ride.
Most of the people who buy them, think of them a *P* magnets, and that's it. They don't enjoy the ride, they are after a *hole* other thing.

Having owned and rode and built Choppers all my life they aregreat if thats the kind of bike you want. For short runs of a couple hundred miles or so an if I'm not hauling a lot crap with me Ill take the chopper but if I do need to take a lot of stuff Ill take the Springer. Oh ya and bikes like OCC and Big Dog's or any of the rest are not choppers they are factory customs them call them that as a selling point. If you can buy it off a show room floor brand new with warranties its not a chopper. A Chopper is stock bike that was modified by an individual. For the people that have built choppershearing these others called choppers is like seeing some one walk up to a Honda Shadow then looking it over and then saying what agreat lookingHarley it is.

Good point JB. I was getting mostly at thepeople/companies churning out these high dollar type bikes and calling them choppers I guess. I really wasnt considering people that take stock bikes and chop them. Its almost sad that the term chopper can be used on a 50k bike.

I like most all bikes - even SOBs.
I figure I'll have a chopper when I'm ready to build one from various older models parts and pieces. Not specific bolt-together system kits either. My design-dreams-measurements-labor. It wouldn't be mine otherwise. I'll ask for lots of help too. Cause I'll need it

I look at choppers the same way I look at Hollywood starlets. They're pretty to look at. I wouldn't mind a short ride on one. But I have no desire to own one.

I guess it depends on what Chopper your talking about. I have a 1963 Panhead Chopper and love it. But once your cross the $20,000 mark they become something else. Bikes are meant to be ridennot sit in front of a bar and look cool.
