The first place I looked was the Cometic website but never could find it.

Shoot 7 bucks? I'm cheaper than that by a long shot. I've reused the same OEM gasket this entire time and have been into the primary prob 8 times. It's one of the better gaskets HD makes...

I think that happens when the area dealer won't participate in online sales. That would force them to, you know, sell them at only MSRP.

@702 Parts Giant is a forum sponsor so they provide a forum member discount. They also provide veteran discounts. Email them at forums@partsgiant.com.

Our syst at the GM dealer will try to sell @ "matrix" pricing. Typically 15-20 % over the list price.
I always sell & quote the true list (MSRP) price. On Monday, I sold a DEF tank for a Duramax pick up
It was over $1000 dollars, so I gave the guy 15 % off.

Of course, all this is subject to customer's attitude

This. They have always price matched the website for me and then given me a vet discount ontop of it.
Parts guy at my dealership he's always so friendly and helpful, and doesnt mind chatting engine building stuff when he's got time.
Lots of scummy dealers out there, but emerald city hd has been great to me over these years.

I ran into this last winter when I started my upgrade, the only damn Primary gasket I could find in stock was a James from DK. I used it, but I am still skeptical of that brand.
I wasn't able to get a derby cover gasket because of some shortages, so I found a James Gasket that fit my new live to ride derby cover at the time.
It tore and leaked several months later, even though I did the torque sequence properly.
I called up the dealership and they had the HD made version of the gasket in stock, and I grabbed 2 of them. Hasn't leaked at all since.
I do not trust James gaskets anymore.
