Default eBay Saddlebag Sets (7 bags for $40 + Shipping)

What are your opinions on these super-cheap saddlebag sets? The sets come with saddlebags, a sissy bar bag, a barrel bag, a windshield bag, a backpack, and a toolbag. I know that the quality must be less than ones purchased in the HD catalog, but you'd probably pay over $1,000 if you bought each of these components from the HD catalog? These are 10x cheaper, but will the HD ones really last 10x longer than these? I'm highly considering these cheapos, because I don't plan on using motorcycle luggage solutions everyday.

Here's an example of one of the sets for sale:

And no, I'm not an eBay seller trying to promote my product! Just curious about them.

You get what you pay for. There are other alternatives over the HD badged stuff. Kuryakyn, SAC, T-bags and Bagtec all make good stuff at a reasonable price.

Atleast if you make a mistake you'll not be out an arm and a leg.

Don't forget the $24 shipping.

I bought some cheap leather items in the past and almost vomited at the smell of the leather. I can't imagine putting my clean clothes in cheap leather bags. And PLEASE don't tell me what the smell was ... I don't want to know. [&:]

Given the run rate of other cheap leather products I've owned and come in contact with, this will likely have a 1 season life before it starts coming apart. Depending on how it's made it might be able to be repaired as it starts coming apart. Not saying that's good or bad, just something for you to consider as you decide whether this deal is right for you.

I think you'll find all the items are made up of small scraps of leather sewn together. Like 2"X3" patches all sewn together to form a large piece of material. Depending on what country the leather originated in, it's possible the odor is urine.

There are very good reasons that tanneries were the subject of some of the world's very first Environmental and Zoning Laws... some two or so thousand years ago!!!

I got a very nice tank bag a year ago, but found (when it got wet) that what I thought was thick leather, was really a cardboard stiffener sewn between two thin pieces of leather. Now, I really like the bag, but WHY NOT just jack up the price by two bucks and use a thicker piece of leather???[:@]

I bought that same set a few years ago for another bike I had. I still have the set and it's not bad stuff at all. It's held up pretty well and no funny smells either.

Sellers on Feebay get a bad rap real easy. Those aint really bad numbers for all his traffic. Less than one person out of 200 was unhappy, and thats not an easy thing to do in a world where at least 20% of folks are azzholes He seems like angood seller especially dealing in crap merchandise like those bags. I dont know how hes got FB as good as he does, he must be giving stuff away on a regular basis to appease folks...[ quote]ORIGINAL: Kikilee
