@Cosmic Razorback Mark, I will be following-along - very interested in the experience, especially given the learning curve.

I have been toying with the idea of a similar machine now that I have the space in my FL home. I've been swapping tires once a year consistently and don't see that changing anytime soon. I much prefer to do my own work whenever I can (when within my abilities).

I've got my eye on a lift or two - that will be the first investment (in 2025) and something I know I will get a lot of value out of. The tire-changer I'm not sure would be worth my investment. I'll be sure to give it a go with a couple of spoons first to see if that's the better route for me. Second choice would be an indy close enough that I can run my wheels over to for tire changes.

Looking forward to learning a bit from your experience...

The main problem with the no mar is I just do not use it enough to get proficient, use it on average 2 times per year and have to re learn every time but I manage to get the job done for what little I use it and more convenient then dropping it off some place and returning to pick it up.

yeah, that's my biggest problem as well. i don't go through tires fast enough to really get proficient at it. so everytime, it's like doing it for the first time again.

in my case, if i wanted to let the dealer do it, i would have to ride or drive over an hour each way. and they won't install tires that you didn't buy from them, so have to add the dealer tax onto 'special' order tires if i didn't want stock. basically, it comes out to right around $1000 for front and rear tire change at the dealer (that's riding the bike in). for half of that, i can buy my tires online, and do the work myself. sure, it takes me a lot longer, but i also do a thorough clean on the wheels while they are off.

One thing I forgot to mention, and I know you probably already know this, but once you figure out exactly where you want your machine, mark it out and drill and tap some anchor bolts so you can bolt it to the concrete.

It will torque and move around on you otherwise.

Nice! Nothing beats an actual tire machine. I always have an eye out for a used Coats.

Each his own. I personally find the CIIIs a much better tire on my bagger vs the AEs.

Awesome! If I had the room, I would be very tempted!

Hell, does the wifey's Acadia really need to have it's own stall?

If I did not have a local Indy that treats me very well on loose tire swaps like I do, I would really look into this.

at least it's somewhat related, i mean one could just go totally around it (see what i did there?) and post some gibberish.

if i could have back every dollar i spent on my no-mar and put it toward a dedicated pneumatic like the op, i would do that in a heartbeat. i got a good price on the no-mar on thanksgiving black friday sale, but damn if that thing isn't a workout. i know people say that if it's hard, to back up and regroup and try again. but even when it's easy, it's still pretty tough...

I've changed Harley tires about a half dozen times using spoons. I get a little better each time. I got a Motion Pro Beadpro but haven't used it yet. It looks promising.
