Box truck conversion to toy hauler/RV

Box truck conversion to toy hauler/RV
I've been playing around with the idea of getting/making a toy hauler rig.
I've seen some really incredible setups and some that look more like remote section-8 housing.
Not wanting to tow a trailer, I've been investigating the concept of using a 26' box truck w/ a roll up door as a good platform to start with.
A deck-style lift gate would be a bonus, as it would allow a bike to be rolled in & out, and it would also provide a bit more security than just the roll up.
I would partition off enough of the rear (say 8') to make a 'garage area' that's separate from the remaining 16'-18' for the living area.
If you have a similar setup, or ideas that would contribute to such a concept, please post away.
This idea is still very much in the 'napkin drawing' stage.

.. and that deck gate will adds significant weight ... an older box truck will need constant attention ... CDL required ? Depends on weight ... That trucks gives up on the road you're stuck there ... Towing a trailer you unhook and go for assistance ... Yes, I know you could pull out the scooter is the the gate still operated ... Sorry to be so negative

I guess you guys haven’t seen any of these yet.
Doesn’t look like too much trouble to me…
One of these ramps would work just fine if a deck-type lift gate can’t be found.
If GVWR is under 26K pounds, and the vehicle is less than 40’ long, then no commercial license is necessary.
No trailer… not an option.

Depending the level of comfort you/bride want. The amenities, ie bathroom, kitchen etc. You'd be amazed how fast that stuff adds up the price.
Check out Class C Toy Haulers. Thor makes some nice ones.

You are in the same boat if your truck pulling a trailer breaks down, No you will not need a CDL unless the vehicle is 26,001 ibs or more, otherwise some class A's would need them, matter of fact they do make Class A's toy haulers. A good used U-haul truck with a low deck would be good. I do agree about the lift gate, that thing quits the bike will not be coming out.
