Why not just buy an enclosed motorcycle trailer and be done with it?
The one pictured below is $5975 and will haul a couple of bikes.
Building homemade stuff reminds me of welding together a couple of '38 Chevy hoods to make a boat. Or cutting the back roof off a stationwagon so that you can have a pickup truck. Or building a wooden campershell on the back of a pickup truck.
Been looking at used trailers out here in the bay area, new they want double what those are going for out here. Decent used not set up for a bike are $4500-$6000.
My youngest brother just bought an used school bus that he is converting to a camper setup. State says he must remove all the seats so that it only seats 6 and he does not need a CDL.
Still gotta pull the trailer for the bikes though.
