It sure sounds like they put the screws to the riders going through Custer Park this year - I live here and call BS on that move.
$20 per bike instead of the normal $8, just for the Rally - BS.

I see on the State of Dakota other info.....Beginning Jan. 1, 2020:
  • An annual state park pass will cost $36 and a daily pass will cost $8
  • Prime campsites will cost $26, preferred campsites will cost $23 and modern campsites will cost $20
  • A new statewide $15 fee will begin for all non-electric, tent-only campsites
  • A seven-day motorcycle pass to Custer State Park will cost $20
Also the state legislative committee that approved it only had a single sole opposition State Senator.

So the State was on-board for this one.

When I was there a couple weeks back it was 20 bucks for a 7 day pass to Custer.

I have been to Mt Rushmore but I have not used that pass and only went to where the tourist go and see the big boys on the mountain....

20 bucks is it excessive?

Just asking....

Where's Governor Kristi? I thought she was for bikers.

I also have that (free) old age pass. I didn't use it this visit to Devil's Tower.l

The American the Beautiful [ "Old age Pass" ] - That will not work in Custer State Park.

Custer Park - It was only $8 for bikes, until the rally started. It was a 3 or 5 day pass.
I go through there many times a year other than July and August and have always had the yearly pass. Lately, I just get a free pass from the library.

I know that old age card won't work in Custer. We didn't go there this year. I mainly carry it for Devil's Tower.
I saw someone wanted to climb DT. There are several routes and prices for lessons. I might check that out in the future.
