I was there on Saturday, there was idiots doing burn outs on the main drag with parked bikes on both sides. They didn’t get arrested, it was pretty laxed.

Bikers causing trouble?!?

When did that start…back when they called fenders “tins”?

Yeah, and who was dumber? The guys doing the burnouts, or the one's standing on the street between him and the parked bikes?

That photo was actually staged by Life Magazine.

My guess is anybody over 50 knows that.

And to take it further, the biker exploitation movies of the late ‘60’s, ‘70’s and beyond helped cement the public’s negative perception of motorcycle riders in America.

I watched a couple this past week. Good God! They’re awful!

The last one had Eric Estrada of CHIPS fame.

I haven't been
to the Sturgis Rally in 13 (or so) years but back during the times when I was there the vast majority of police were from put-of-town jurisdictions and were there working on their "vacations" and most were very friendly.

I always tried to get any riding that I wanted to do completed before sundown and IF you were on the road you could see many "flashing lights" with bikes sittin' on the side of the road with a few hangin' on the backs of wreckers!

As for me personally, the closest that I ever came to being in an accident was on a bright, sunny mid-week day as I was headed north out of Hill City and a rider pulled out of a parking lot right on to the highway in front of me!
I braked hard and steered to my right to get around him and I honestly don't think that he realized what a "close encounter: we had!

Looked to me like attendance was down this year, at least there were fewer people camping where I was than previous years, maybe that has something to do with it.

Our campground 'HogHeaven' had noticeably fewer people this year compared to previous years.
I even got a spot with shade.

There were also less people in the busier spots. Wait until next year; the 85th.

That's very good, friend of mine made that list early 90's. Two young couples on rocket bike's racing hit him head on. Killed 3 on the spot.
