Not sure if they're flat-out lying, or if they just don't know much about what they're selling.
I suspect the latter.
Some dealers have an old-school graybeard working sales as a partial retirement gig. That's the guy I prefer, even if the new H-Ds are way different than the old ones. They at least make an effort to know their product.

I had a car salesman run up on me as I entered a dealer.
This young dude wanted to shake my hand and start breathing in my face.
After about 1 minute, I realized this dude was very sick with some flu.
Got right the hell outta there, told him to go home.

My biggest issue with Harley-Davidson salesman is that most of them have no idea what they are talking about. My local dealership has a couple salesman that I've talked to and they called each bike a "unit" as in "this unit has blah blah blah, and this unit has blah blah". I even had to explain to him that the model that he was showing me was a Streetglide, because he thought it was a Road King! I also had to explain to him what the features on it were. He had no clue. Of course, my local dealership is owned by an individual who also owns five more Harley dealerships and a bunch of car dealerships
