Default Sturgis tire $$, oil change $$

Saw this circulating....not sure what a dealer typically charges these days to compare (?)
Of course its a National event, so, nothing is cheap.

The Buffalo Chip has a shop (Fozzy's Cycle Shop) that does tires, batteries and oil changes and some minor repairs. It's at the public entrance by the Big Engine Bar, so no wrist band is required.

I was there in 21 and the prices were fairly decent considering it was during rally week when all prices are doubled or quadrupled. They had Yuasa batteries and Comtinental tires. Not sure what oil and filter they are using. I believe they are using Metzler tires this year. If you are in a bind, check out their prices. Talk to Angie or Larry, tell them I sent you!

$440 for a tire change including the tire to me does not seem too out of line. Consider the tire is $200-250 the labor is not that much. On a bagger they might be loosing a little money, but on a striped down bike they are making it.

J&P sets up on Lazalle I believe, not sure what they charge, but get there early in the AM. A friend used them once, no issues. https://www.jpcycles.com/sturgis-rally-events

Those guys at Randy’s hooked up a buddy last week by fixing his stripped shifter shaft the day before they were supposed to open. As luck would have it his bike gave up the ghost a block away from them. They pulled a personsl bike off the lift got his up and had the part in stock. Can’t say enough about them, good people.

I came back the next day when they opened and got a 3 hole change. I had been on the road several weeks and needed it done before going back home.

Unless you are riding 5,000 miles to and from Sturgis. I’d just put in new tires and get fluid changes before keaving home. Yeah, ya might be throwing away a few mikes of tread…but, won’t be wasting time getting bike serviced.

Our last trip there was 2022, and was 3,500 miles. I put on new AEs before the trip and it was very comforting to have lots of tread, even though I changed them 35% early.

It's like the old saying goes, "the pain of a bad deal is remembered, long after the satisfaction of a good deal is forgotten".
