Default harley could bleep up an anvil . P1019 bad pump

Preface this with, you always have to be thankful when you make it home safe, or don't have to be towed. But harley could bleep up an anvil.

Clearing brush, decide to I would treat myself if I got off ***, and headed out for ride. 5 miles later check engine and temp light. P1019. Which seems to often to indicate coolant pump. Not even 24k miles on my 2015. I bought this bike to start touring again, and got a big ride planned. Got to be grateful it didn't go on my last vacation.

Harley will be forced to make a better bike when the baby boomers are gone. The gray beards are what allows harley to sell whatever it wants, cross thread points. I will buy another pump, and keep riding it.

Going to laugh if I can't get a pump in time, and have to ride the harley that I had to replace the failed crank shaft. That year had problems I was told.

No point, just felt like whining, rather than doing something productive.

True, but a water pump with less than 24k mile fails. Plus all the threads about this, when they were new. This is why, harley motorcycle will do better when the graybeards are gone. Profits, I can't say.

My brand new bike failed days before my vacation, it was 3 weeks old. It is just a harley thing. We are the research and development department.

Since it is paid for I'll fix the known problem.

This graybeard has an AMF Shovelhead with an original crank that went 150,000 miles before it started making noise. Still took me 200 miles home.
When I spilt the cases, it had a .030" groove worn in it. Replaced and balanced it. There was no whining.
Good luck getting old.

I have a twin cooled 2016 that hasn’t failed yet and is at 50,000 miles. I have lots of experience with failed pumps on two previous touring machines. I must say it detracts from the ride looking at your dash a few times a day wondering when those lights are going to go on.

My crank went at 70k, and being a twin cam it's pressed together. 150 and 40- 50 years old is reasonable. You hot tappet blocks. Buddy's M8 lifters let loose .

And folks wonder why I purchased my 2019 FLHTP with the fan assist oil cooler. No water cooling. And this quite possibly could be my last motorcycle.
