Bike likely to be a write off

Bike likely to be a write off
I dropped my bike recently and the dealership has just sent my insurance company the quote for repairs - all up repair bill of $26K AUD. I previously asked my insurer what the insured value was and they told me $27,500 AUD, which is about 5K AUD more than redbook private sale value which is good.
Considering these figures I'm betting the bike is going to be written off, but I won't find out for sure for a couple of days.
I'm kinda hoping it will be a write off as I'm keen to get a new bike with RDRS. I will hold out buying till next year as I think they are highly likely to upgrade the FLHTK model then. Wish me luck!

Finalised
Got a call from the insurance assessor today - the bike is "not economically repairable" - they are going to pay me out $28K which is better than what I was expecting.
Gonna hang onto it until next year's FLHTK model comes out with all the expected upgrades. Will take the bus to work for the rest of the year!

WOW..
When you first posted about accident pulling out, never dreamed it would total it. They must say the frame is damaged.

For that much damage, did you drop it off a cliff?
10 years ago, I dropped my Shovelhead (not intentional...lost traction) while avoiding another crash that happened in front of me. The bike landed on my leg.
Only damage to the bike was a cracked exhaust pipe (the part that landed on my knee). They didn't total my knee, but it cost a lot to fix.
Glad you're OK.

I know several folks who have purchased "salvage" bikes and they ride fine. Can only get liability insurance on the bike, but if purchased correctly then that should not be an issue. I also know many folks who have kept their motorcycles after negotiating a price with the insurance company.
Wrinkled paint on the frame means "frame flex" and possible frame issues. In the USA that is now a total with the cost of labor and other needed parts.
