Neck Pain

Neck Pain
Hello Everyone,
I have a 2023 RG. Everything is stock except rear suspension. I went on a 240-mile ride. After about 45 minutes I developed lower neck/upper left shoulder pain-pins and needles. I am still recovering. I did find an older thread with same issue. I was hoping I could get an update on anyone who was successfully able to eliminate the pain and start enjoying the ride once again. Thank you.

Welcome to the HDFORUM.
I hope you continue to enjoy your ride here to.
Only as a suggestion, by me as a USER, create a signature line similar to my one line on my bike information.
The year, model, and all the letters Harley assigned to the bike. It will appear at the bottom of your post.
Doing this will be helpful if you ask a question. All Harleys aren't the same with many changes and variations over the year.
Of course, you can always add it to any thread with a question.
You can also add any other details you choose and a favorite picture to the signature lines.
If you like, you can also add a favorite picture for an Avatar you see at the top left of all your posts as a postal
PS…Questions would probably get more comments in the proper area using the dropdown menu under Forums in the menu above.
It’s possible if a Community Team member sees your post, they may move it to a better area.
If they do, only as a suggestion by me, make another new thread back here in the welcome area to say hello and if desired introduce yourself.
My only suggestion it work up to that many mile and even once you do, stop about ever 50 or so and stretch and relax.
I was doing that at 55 years old.

I suffer from neck pain and what helped me was raising my hands. With lower bars you tend to lean forward and then look up. By raising your hands (with taller handlebars) you will sit up straighter and look forward and not up. Also, realizing you have a unnecessary death grip on the bars helps too. Gotta relax.

Such pain can be caused by anxiety and tensing up of the muscles when you are riding, and if you are fighting the wind it makes it worse. Having the proper height windshield can be a big help, and learning how to relax when you're riding is important as well. If the pain continues, don't rule out seeing a doctor and possibly a chiropractor to be sure that you don't have a physical problem that is creating the discomfort you are experiencing. Good luck.
