Ha, no interest in labels like that. I got rid of my hot rods because I no longer had time to work on and enjoy them. Same reasoning for the bikes. Same reason for the music, which took a lot of time away from home. Not to mention the alcohol part.... Also, my "shop" (garage), is below the kid's room and the grinding, welding, sparks etc. was unwanted with the kid's sleep schedule. Wife was very overwhelmed due to the child having cholic. Now our child is very difficult and has unique needs which requires our time as a team to take care of her. Everyone has challenges I won't get into all of them. I did still have my boat, my guitars and my guns.

Some of us have been blessed/cursed with a broad capacity to be interested and love LOTS of things- you’re not alone. And yet we feel alone.. it’s lonely at the top as the saying goes..

Well, I figure that anyone who has enough free time in their life to worry about what I do in mine, can just go **** up a rope... the line starts over there.

Never have cared what anyone thinks about any of my choices. I have had bikes and hot rods since I was 15 years old. I had an 8-year stint without motorcycles as I was a single Dad and couldn't take the risks that come with riding. My midlife crisis continues with five bikes, a Corvette, and Blazer in my garages. Eff 'em.

I would just look at them and laugh in their face. Then get on my Harley and ride away, smiling 😃

I’ve bought four FLHs in the last four years. Three of them new.

I’m 68.

At 40 I was only buying expensive stringed instruments.
That was the other mid life crisis.

You get only one trip through this great big world and you have no idea how much longer the ride will continue so **** what anyone else thinks about what you choose to do with your free time and and your disposable income, make the most of the ride and enjoy it.

I see. You did what you had to, and felt necessary, to handle your business. Key words here YOUR BUSINESS, no one else's. Keep on keepin on.

I think the people pointing out your mid-life crisis are having one of their own, 'cuz they ain't got a Harley.

One of my nephews once said I was having a mid-life crisis because I had an assortment of toys. I told him its quite the opposite. Im in my peak earning years and still young enough to do the things I want to do so Im having fun because I can. That response satisfied him and I wonder if he'll ever use that on someone else when they spout off to him?
