Rikuo, built in a Harley Davidson authorized, tooled, and licensed factory in Japan from 1932 until a company partnership split ( the Japanese wouldn't agree to buy the design for the knucklehead) in 1936. Sankyo Seiyako Corp. Continued to build the Rikuo, even through the war years, until 1958. Rikuo means "King of the Road". Sound familiar? A little knowledge helps cure fanaticism...but hey - it was a Harley.

Moderators not being allowed to moderate and/or take out the trash are generally due to poor leadership. A heavier handed approach to cleaning this place up could return this place to its former glory. In my short time here I've watched it spiral downhill, and there seems to be no end in sight. There is some incredibly good tech and information here, it's a shame it's allowed to fall into ruin.

There used to be a website that validated Harley ownership before allowing someone access to read or post. Most were sent an email inviting them to join. I met several folks via that board. That was late 90s into early 2000s. The the social media stuff took off and most good tech boards ceased to be.

Yeah, I remember the Aermacchi Harleys. I'm sure a 16 year old 1969 Sprint 250 owner could tell a 62 year old 2014 Road Glide owner a thing or two about big twins. Having a big checkbook or simple ownership does not equal knowledge. I think the mods do a good job. The main offenders are religious or political nuts...you can be a Harley owner and still qualify for those categories!

the head admin in charge’s replies to me when I’ve brought up a particular “issue” here, is to say that “I represent the problem”.

whatever is happening here is deliberate, but with consequences that were not anticipated.

I prefer mechanical threads myself, but don’t mind chatting about Harley stuff or riding stuff. You really can’t win. If you start a thread about modifying carbs, transmissions, stroking motors you get crusty guys who blast you and say Harleys are not meant for that.. and it’s not reliable.. and want you to make everything stock. When you talk about drag racing they get crabby and say we’re here for street riding only. If a fella talks about traveling and riding long distance he gets blasted and told he should be doing that on a touring bike.. Too many people like to make too many rules and the good rules that are in place many don’t follow.

I started this thread highlighting maybe we should talk about Harleys in a Harley forum. I’m not sure if that offends some or if they like it since they contributed to it.

When you're not a **** gobbler that's the way you're treated by closed minded people that have an exaggerated estimate of their own self importance.

I never met a motorcycle I didn't like, and was very partial to the acceleration of my Suzuki liter bike. However, I like the power and acceleration of my Harley even better, numbers be damned. I agree with the OP, there are a lot of people adding to threads with comments that are derogatory or at best have no relevance to the discussion. I guess I'm guilty of posting things that do not prove to be helpful, and sometimes nothing more than color commentary stories from days gone by.
I'm in several forums and this one is the second best for technical content. If you have a Norton, check out Access Norton if you absolutely need to know something. Still, there are some junk threads and posts over there, just far fewer of them. And, everyone has good manners.
