Scammers - Buyer beware reminder

Scammers - Buyer beware reminder
From my want ad for a backrest I was contacted by LarryHD who told me that thomascole717@yahoo.com had a backrest for sale.
I guess I should have thought to do a reverse search on Google for the images I got from him. Looks like I got scammed for the backrest.
I was then contacted by another person - maybe the same person using a different name/contact info - for the same thing and did a search for his images which matched some on the internet so obviously this is something that these people are doing. I should have also searched for his name on this forum ... seems he has tried to get others as well.
This is the contact info for the second scammer. Jamie Vardy
jamlynnx2@yahoo.com
Lesson learned and so sad that there are people who do this kind of thing to rip off others.
Just putting that out there as a reminder.

I read a earlier thread about the same scammer posting pics from years old post of someone else.
There is a thread at the bottom of the classified section "Good Or Bad Shopping Experiences At HDF" but searching that thread for LarryHD doesn't return any results. The thread isn't really easy to find being at the bottom and doesn't appear to be updated very frequently. Perhaps a couple Sticky threads at the top of the classified section would help potential buyers identify scammers vs known good sellers.
"Hall of Shame" for scammers
"Hall of Fame" for known good sellers.

Recently sold an extra car that had been passed down thru two of my college students. It was well maintained and good shape.
It had been replaced by new cars I gave them at their graduation.
I put it on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist and Ebay. My details were very specific. Only local, no shipping, all transactions in mine or there bank. Viewing only during the day.
I started at book. Knew that was high. I had a figure I would accept. Each week, I reduced it 500 and adjusted my accept.
By the being of the third week, down 1000, I started getting a lot of real interest.
As usual, ebay was pretty straight. Surprisingly Facebook Marketplace was too.. The first two weeks on Craigslist, I had 3 persistence scamers.
Same spill. Wanting you to pay for a title search and maintance check.
One kept texting me till I blocked his number. These guys must work at that check place.
I sold it at the beginning of week three. After a brief viewing and test drive, we met at luckly our credit union.
He withdrew the funds and told the teller to just transfer it to me.
I stepped up and gave her my ID and card. Never touched the money.
I signed over the title and gave him a bill of sale.
