Default Optical Confusion.....?

Riding some backroads (canyons) in Socal. Lots of twisties, steep cross-fall, etc. Come to a T-intersection (remote)with mountains in the background, crossroad with about a 15 degree slope, road I'm on has about the same, opposite direction, and when I stopped my left leg was, almost, not long enough....bike started 'leaning' and it took all I had to keep it upright. 1st time this has ever happend to me in over a 100k miles of riding. Ever happen to you? Was I just optically confused?

Yes it has happened to me. I was riding in a funeral with the PGR and the staging are was in a parking lot of a grocery store. The parking lot was on a steep upward angle and when I pulled in I turned to the right to park the bike and came to a complete stop only to notice that the ground on the right was about 7 - 8 inches lower than expected. Needless to say I dropped the bike, not able to hold it up. It was then that I noticed everybody else was parked facing either straight up or straight down the hill.

One time I was flying with mountains on my left, and flat land on my right. The horizon I was seeing was actually slanted. I was trying to keep the wings level based on that slanted reference. I kept wondering why I couldn't stay on course. Object lesson in keeping the artificial horizon in my scan.

It happens. Maybe you just need you an artificial horizon. LOL.

Happened to me on a road going uphill with a slope to the left intersecting a road going downhill 90 deg to me. Came to a stop, put left foot down and dropped bike, wife and luggage. Man it was hard picking up the bike whem it was laying downhill. No damage except tp my pride.

Funny you mention that, I was pulling onto an overlook in Great Smokie forest right up from Gatlinburg, came to a stop and did about the same thing. It was more like vertigo I guess.
