I might have helped too much

RE: I might have helped too much
From what I read in the initial post, the driver of the bike stood it up and had it on the sidestand. Not you. The owner moved it himself.
No worries then!

Now here is my dumb question.
How could this hurt the guys claim if it was a one person accident? Unless he plans on sueing himself. I mean when he claims it on his insurance it will count agianst his insurance and no one else to blame but himself right.
Jeff
I say he is a lucky man for not being hurt (bad) and haveing some nice people stop and helping.

Don't worry about it. Nothing against LEO's, but when it comes to claim settling, they don't know chit!

YOU ARE RIGHT!
We don't list who's at fault, we only take statements and any other information needed by the Insurance Co.'s and THEY are the one's who list fault. If noone fights the statements then you are fine. If someone states something different than the victim, then it's the Insurance Co.'s job to place fault.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Here's an update
The rider came by the house to pick up his bike, had his wife driving. He got 3 stitches onhis right elbow and a bruised ribcage. Moving a little slow but no serious damage. He hooked up to the trailer to take it home with many handshakes and thanks all around. 2 hours later I see my trailer sitting on the street just like I asked. All in all, a lucky day for him.

when i used to write accident reports, merely observing the damage to the vehicles and quick interviews- it was very easy to tell what had happened. unless there was a fatality or severe injuries- a street cop would take the report.
chief- you did the right thing. i cant even tell you how many times i would have people/tow truck drivers move the smashed vehicles from the road so traffic could flow freely.
and yes- cops dont determine fault. they merely document what was observed and said (drivers/witnesses). the insurance companies pay big bucks for their own accident investigators.

That was a good example of an LEO ruffling his feathers, puffing up his chest, doing the "I'm in charge here" duck walk. No worries. You did great and I would have thank'd you reguardless of the outcome.

Look at it this way, you would be criticised if you didn't help out....Ithink you did the right thing while LEO's were present. More folks in this world need to help one another out...but the lawyers in most cases will pounce on you if your assistance was harmful...
oh well, ride on, ride a lot.
