Question How do you guys transport your bikes cross-country?

I'm moving from TX to CO, so the drive will require an overnight somewhere. I'm looking into trailers but I'm too paranoid to leave the bike on an open trailer in a hotel parking lot overnight...just seems too easy to steal the trailer. I was considering an enclosed U-haul trailer but wasn't sure they can handle the weight on their sketchy ramps or their flimsy metal flooring. Haven't looked into shipping prices yet, but assumed that would be the most expensive option. Ideas?

Well, it depends on where in Texas to where in Colorado. But a man can make a 700 mile run in about 15 hours with a couple of breaks.

I've parked my bike in hotel parking lots many times when travelling across the USA. I stay in good hotels that are well lit, and in many cases they don't mind if you park near the front door. Generally these hotels are not in a bad part of town either.

For a reasonable fee, I could drive your bike in front of your moving truck for you...

Haha, well it's about 925 miles, and for THIS man, that's more than I want to do in one day, especially having to keep it at 65 with the trailer.

I have also parked just my bike by the front door of a hotel overnight, but I'm talking about pulling a trailered bike. Usually you have to park trailers away from the building quite a bit. Whatever, I'll figure it out.

I remember the first time I left my bike outside on a trip. Haven't looked back since that day. It'll be fine.

I also have to take my Jeep with me. I have to take both at the same time. Or get the bike shipped I guess.

Then take the bike out of the trailer and park it by the front door.

Where you headed in Colorado? Perhaps we'll run into each other some time.
