Theodore. Ted for short, as most of friends called him, was an avid motorcyclist. Ted was thought to be a tried and true old school Harley guy, but that wasn’t exactly the case. Ted did enjoy the classics. His Harley Davidson Fat Boy got a lots of attention.
In 2003, when the V-Rod was released as an anniversary edition, Ted was intrigued. Having been retired for the better part of ten years, after a long career in construction, he had found that his investments paid off well. Being on 53 when Ted retired, he still had plenty of time to have fun, and the investments supplemented his income well enough.
Ted drove out to the local dealer, Worth Harley-Davidson, to get a look at the newest model. Ted had no intension of trading in his Fat Boy, as it had provided many years of service. No, Ted had plans of adding a new bike to the stable. Something that was more fun, and less traditional.
Ted test rode the V-Rod was awestruck by the raw feeling of power. The smooth acceleration as he twisted the throttle. Ted was hooked, and completed the paperwork. The dealer had agreed to the have the motorcycle delivered by the end of the week. Just in time for a run through the Ozarks.
Ted and his riding buddy, Russ, took off early Friday afternoon, far a weekend long trip of riding the twisted mountain roads. An overnight motorcycle trip on his new V-Rod was just what Ted needed.
Early into the next day, Saturday morning, after a stop at a little hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint, Tedd and Russ headed out. Russ was into riding, but also into hiking. Russ convinced Ted to take a hike out to an overlook he had heard of, but had not seen.
Ted and Russ parked their bikes near the road in a parking area near the road, and walked off. Ted was never seen again. It is believed that Russ, how was going through a divorce, believed Ted to be the cause. Russ pushed Ted off the overlook and returned to his motorcycle, where he pushed it in behind some bushes.
There, the V-Rod sat for nearly two years, before a passerby found the V-Rod, and posted a story about its apparent abandonment in the Ozarks.

I was thinking "Ted bought a used V-Rod in Silver, and after riding it 3 miles, was too embarrassed to admit he bought a V-Rod, so he just left it in the woods and walked home"
Either that or the Terminator Movie is real and that is the terminators bike!

I’m thinking a Dealership owns the land and this is the surplus lot where bikes wait on back ordered parts or a tech certified in that bike to work on it.
This begs the question. If a V rod was started in the woods and no one was there to hear it, would the sound still suck and not be as good as an air cooled Harley?

I read a lot, and I'm writing a book. I have a few published short stories in the wild. Where, at this point, I have no idea...
