This is a major design flaw. They knew this on August 31st and they kept selling these bikes until December when they finally announced the flaw to the world. If I had bought this bike, I would be royally pissed that the “fix” is a software update to limit top speed to 100 MPH. This is inexcusable in my opinion.

Typical MoCo bs. Every new platform intro since 2007 has had some major design or mechanical issue. People were flaming mad back in 2007 about the 110 motor cylinder liners slipping and oil seaps. Harley denied the problem existed for couple of years till the pressure got to them. Then of course most are familiar with sumping and the tranny migration issue when the M8’s came out. My riding buddy’s brand new 2017 RG motor had to be replaced after a couple of thousand miles.
i completely agree with you that this is unacceptable, the only difference I see is that they are acknowledging the issue right away instead of hiding or denying it exists like in the past.

prior to the 1k maintenance, I had it on I-69 here in MI and it easily hit 120+, i never had any issues with wobbling or waviness

while I had it in, I had them change the exhaust and the bars...when they gave it back, one of the 'updates' capped the top speed to 100....you can get to 100 in 4th gear with this engine

so, the RF system sounds like hammered ****, the engine just got it ***** cut off, and the weight loss just got nixed by the need for a weight to be added to the front end

ummmmm.....it has a really nice paint job
you must have bought the whiskey neat, not the pewter.

The reason they are taking action so quickly in this case is because it's a recall, meaning there are safety issues involved and there have been documented cases of high speed loss of control.

Denying the problem exists would have serious legal liability implications. The other issues you mentioned are mechanical in nature; not the sort of thing Harley could be sued for.

no ballast yet… just the dead throttle at 100

Well, sounds like the MOCO has known this was an issue a lot longer than they are letting on. Really is bullshit that their fix for a design flaw is to speed limit the bike to 100 mph. There highest performing street glide, is no longer that. The regular street glide, the special and the ST are now all faster. Harley needs to figure out what the problem is, then actually fix it.

I am guessing the 24 CVO SG will come with the 100 mph limit. How will this affect sales?

Will Harley secretly limit the CVO Road Glide when it's in for service? It's not under recall.

Forget about seeing a trunk version of these new bike designs whether it is an Ultra or a RG Limited. Add 40 lbs to the back with a trunk, what are they going to do add 2 more bricks to the front end to keep it stable at speed. Massive fail by the MOCO.

mine has a 'trunk', i am going to be so worried now

can't really tell from this angle, but I also lifted the tour pack up an inch and set it back 3"

what I may do is have them install a seat on the front fender and have my wife ride up front

I'm not here for the controversy, but just wanted to add that that is an incredibly good looking bike CB.... nice!
