If you ever traded the sporty in and got a bigger motor you would understand. The sporty is fast off the line, but the rpms are held up on the road, It's like its trying to bust out and take off. H-D should of put another gear in the sporty too. But with a new 6 speed cruising on the hiway is a dream. The ape bars are just easier to hang on to.

I've been told ape's are for those guys with the hairy knuckles that drag below their knees. keeps their elbows from hitting the ground in the turns. lol

Well, I'm new here,so it was'nt really a dead topic for me.I found it very interesting. The bottom line,I guess,is that the people that have apes bars are very happy with them. So if you think you want them,I say go for it. Keep in mind that they may work better on some bikes than others.

I agree -If it's two wheeled you are countersteering. If you pull on the right bar bike goes left. Understand this is happening and notice how much smoother your curves arewhen you work with the countersteer instead of fighting it

Not sure Clammy but match 'em against the engine guard which is 1 1/4", the engine guard looks like a clutch cable compared to the bars, those are killer looking, I have not been able to find 'em anywhere

Yeah, those things are monsters. I bet it was REALLY easy to run the wiring through them!

Do you know the owner of that bike?

Cheers!
