RE: Apes. . . what's the deal?
You have to ride with apes for a while to understand them. you can have apes in a few different positions. I rode with them on my bicycles when I was a kid.
I like apes and mini apes on scooters. Them are the untimate bars to ride with. I've been told you can't counter steer good with apes. Well I don't countersteer anyway.
But I like the poistion the apes put you in better than other bars, and I like the looks of apes.
You can take a road king or a electra glide and put a set of apes on it and it changes the whole look of the bike too.
They seeem to either be in yer blood or not.

RE: Apes. . . what's the deal?
I hate to interject a little reality here, but in the '50s guys were racing their pans and knuckles in desert races and scrambles events. The hardtails would beat the hell out of them until they invented Apes. They could then do a pullup when they saw a big bump or jump coming and stand on the pegs and not have the rear of the bike slam them in the ***.
It worked on the road too and became a style in the '60 thru today.
