Great pics!
Congrats on a safe and fun trip. I grew up in WV and those pics bring back good memories. Been years since I've been back there.
And, yes the drivers are nuts! I used to be one of them! [8D]

Monster, my wife and I were in VA all last week. My original travel plans included going into West Virginia, but we just ran out of time and never got out there. We toured Northern VA from Skyline drive down to Monticello in Charlottsville and east to west from New Market to Fredericksburg. Just for good measure we stopped at Shenandoah H-D in Staunton, and Haugh Enterprises H-D in Orange. Some of those viscious thunder storms hit us as well, but no harm done. Made things intersting.
You're right about Skyline Drive versus public scenic byways. I simply could not go fast enough to stay out of the way of the locals. Wasn't going slow either! But since the natives drive these roads every day, I guess they see them from a different point of view. Skyline Drive was socked in with fog a good deal of the time, but that still looked awesome in it's own way.
As for the snooty attitude of my fellow Jerseyans you had the displeasure to meet, I'd like to tell them to grow up and stop giving my home state a bad rep. If I had run into you Monster it would have been my pleasure to buyyou and your Missusa few rounds. Sorry it was those jerks you met and not me.
Anyway, glad you had a great ride and returned home safe to share it with us.

LOL. Funny story Gary. It started with Knoxville for the National Rally. Nixed because neither of us were in the mood for it. Then the Outer Banks. Decided to wait until after tourist season. So we ended up in Wes Virginny. Go figger.

Good job of documenting your trip. Thanks. My wife grew in WV so I've spent a lot of time there. The New River is awsome as you discovered. Did you go in that over-priced gift shop? Man they got some spendy items in that place.
