Motorcylces save gas is a myth

RE: Motorcylces save gas is a myth
You know---- I had a guy at a gas station who was looking for an opening line to talk to me about my bike, so he used the " So what do you get for mileage?". I looked him striaght in the face and said.." Don't know and don't give a chit."
If I really wanted to save gas and ride two wheels I'd get me a peddly bike. Up here in Canada our gas cost me about $5.00 / gallon ( thats converted from $1.20 / liter, 4.45 liters / imperial gallon which is 20% more than a US gallon ) man the math is too time consuming. When she is low I fill her up and ride

No I am not an accountant, but a retired bus driver. If you want to get down to techicalities, keep a spread sheet on ALL your direct operating expenses, such as gas. oil, filters, batteries, tires, stuff that wears out. Total it all up and divide by the number of milesyou rodeto get a true picture of what it costs you to ride the motorcycle. Last time I did this, I figured the expense at about .25 per mile. My car runs closer to .40 per mile. The indirect expenses, those that don't change with miles like loan, insurance, storage etc aren't used in this computation, but can be used to compare with other forms of transportation. Like insurance. My new Ultra is $157 per year, the car is $380.
The real neat thing by keeping the spreadsheet is that you can anticipate the next tire cost, serviess, how far did the last tire go, how much do you spend on gas. If you're interested that is.[8D]

I have already been busted by the Mrs. on this gas saving issue. So....I just moved smoothly into the next phase of "the bike is a necessity" plan.....PSYCHOTHERAPY!!!! I have proven to her repeatedly that riding is therapy and stress relief for me......when I get to ride as much as I want, with whoever I want, and wherever I want, I stay in a very good mood! Therefor, I am, at that point, a better husband!!! Hey it has worked so far! And if someone posts a thread busting my cover on this one!...........

i dont care how you look at it . you are saving gas . make all those trips in a car or truck then you can tell us how much gas you are saving. sure you may be rideing more but it's a whole lot better than sitting around looking at each other.or take a trip you can take your car i'll take the bike then you can tell every body how you saved.sure you are going to ride more its summer but you are still saving gas .
