Is it really necessary to get new bolts...
for rotors on the weheels or has anyone reused the oens they have? Obviously loctite is a good idea but is this just the Moco trying to makes some extra green?

RE: Is it really necessary to get new bolts...
Usually when an engineer specifies new bolts instead of re-using the old ones, it is because the torque setting on the old bolt was high enough to stretch it a bit beyond its elastic limit. When you re-use the bolt, you again stretch it past its limit, and second time may stretch the bolt too far and then you can lose clamping pressure. A bolt is just a clamp, and the torque setting determines how much the bolt is stretched and therefore the final clamping pressure.
I know that Harley will do what they have to do to make money, but in this case there is probably a good reason for the new bolts. You can re-use them but the shop manual says not too, and in something as important as your brakes, don't take a chance.

I have reused my old bolts on the front at least 3 times. The reason the MoCo says to use new bolts is because they come with the thread locker already on them. If you use them, just put some blue Loctite on them and you are good to go.

in the manuel they will have you replacing everything . just put locktite in and go for it the torgue setting on those bolts is no where near the streach point. by the thinking of the streach point why don't we replace the axel each time re change tires???

Axle is thicker and associated with different type forces then a torqued bolt, like comparing apples to oranges.
