Weird letter in the Enthusiast
I got my copy of the Enthusiast last night, and reading through the letters. One guy was asking which Lube to use in his 07 Street Glide. He mentioned how the owners manual only specifies Formula+ for the transmission and primary case, and was asking if that would void the warranty if he switched to Syn3. The person that responded said that Syn3 is the only one that doesn't impact the factory warranty.
Is that right? I know we've gone around this several times (in regards to doing the service yourself vs. the dealer/indy and maintaining the warranty, as well as the types of oil to use), and didn't think that the warranty would be voided - or could be legally - if different oils/lubes were used.

I also saw that letter to the Enthusiast this month. I talked to my dealer about warranty issues. As long as I have receipts of changing my oil and filter my warranty is still good! Also I was specific about the oil I use and the dealer service department did not have any issues or how it affects the warranty. I could bring my own oil for them to change and warranty will still be good. It depends on the dealer and how they support the rider and his/her bike.

I noted the wording doesn't say "voids the warranty".I think this is a sneaky way of implying that it will void the warranty , while that may not be what it really means.
