I've found that 50% of my riding enjoyment is listening to the engine. It has a calming effect, and just sounds like a bike outta.Whether wizzing along at 80,or running it thru the gears,it's like music.(Homo award?)

I agree.

The sound, the vibration, and just the general feel of the ride!

And don't worry about that award, it appears I "won it" hands down (or is that "palms up"?)

What sound? Wearing a half helmet, no windshield at 50+ mph, all I hear is wind, even with Sampson fish tails, which aint exactally quiet.

My feelings exactly. It's best right around 2000 rpm, working under a slight load. That's why I love cruising back roads at about 45 mph. Also why I always leave my windshield on. You guys ripping down the highway without a windshield are missing the best part of the ride.

I love listening to the motor too and I've noticed that it sounds completly different when I throw on the detachable windshield.

The sound seems to echo off the windshield and I tend to hear a lot better because of the reduced windage.

I don't ride with the windshield often but when I doo I notice the difference........big time! [sm=smiley20.gif]

I don't need no stinking windshield to hear my bike at any speed. I run open pipes with a half helmet and have thought of getting a ipod, but hate the thought of missing the piston music.
