When do you hook up your battery tender?
With all the gadgets and security systems that put a drain on our battery, if you new that your bike would be sitting idle for 1to 2 weeks, would you hook up the battery tender? If not, how long do you wait? Just wondering if continually pluging and unplugingthe battery tender would harm the battery.

I hook up mine after each ride, that's what it's for. I leave it connected until the next ride.

BTW, I am a little surprised that the unit seems to stay warm all the time. I would have thought that once the battery was fully charged and it goes into a "monitor mode" that it would not stay so warm.
dexo54, does your unit remain warm all the time?

For me, it depends on time and temperature. The colder it is, the earlier in the season I will start plugging it in. OR, the longer I plan on being parked. 60s and just a week or two? Nope. Don't plug it in. 40s and a day or two? It gets plugged in. 30s? every night.

Ditto! It takes about 10 seconds to plug in.Why not do it if you have it?

after every ride. I just maintain my battery. My original has lasted 5 years and starting to have a little age. I recently installed a new battery but have kept the old one as a backup or if a friend gets a dead one. even tho I have it stored, it's on a tender.
