Nelson-Rigg makes pretty decent stuff too, and they come with a vinyl rain cover. I have one that I've had for 6 years, The zipper is a little worn and need to be re-sewn at the seam, but still, I paid $39 for it when I bought it new and it's still working pretty good. However, it's more orange colored then black, because it's seriously sun bleached.

RE: gym bag
Go to eBay and search for 'Saddlebag Set.' You can get a set of saddlebags, sissy bar bag, barrel bag (good for the "Gym Bag" you're talking about), tool bag, and windshield bag for $40 + $20 shipping. The quality is low, butthey hold up and you can't beat the price.

RE: gym bag
What's wrong with actually getting a GYM bag and using a bungee to attach it to the backrest? Unless you really want to spend a ton of money on a bag you might actually use for other purposes.

RE: gym bag
Check the Iron Rider series by Dowco . http://www.dowco-inc.com/Accessories_IR.asp?seg=2. I have the roll bag (small for what you want) and the overnight bag (could be just right). I think the overnight is around $70 and is well built. I like the set because you can mix and match the bags for what you need and they are well built, come with everything you need. Also you can add to the set as needed.

RE: gym bag
I use this for carrying my rain gear, but it's certainly large enough to use as a gym bag, it comes with a should strap, and it's waterproof too. It attaches to my sissybar.
