How tall a windshield should I buy?

RE: How tall a windshield should I buy?
I like the top of the windshield to be about even with my chin when I sit on the bike. This gives me nice air flow and most of all I'm not utterly blinded by rain/mist. ALso during certain times at sunrise/sunset you can be blinded by the glare trying to look thru a windshield too.

I have a shorty windshield for my RK. It does block most of the wind but seems to push it near my forehead. When it rains, I still do get rain on my face.
Before you buy a short windshield I'd try to see if you have a buddy that has one and borrow theirs first if they'll let you. Other option would be to cut your windshield to the perfect height for you. There's instructions here on this forum and several people have done it with success.
Good luck.

i bought a shorter one than normal and i almost regret it. ever hear of helmet bobble? the wind now hits my hemet a bit more and it used to. so when im in traffic at highway speed, or there is a wind, my head get smacked with small burst of air. not a big deal, but annoying.
take a ride with your old one, stick your hand up and feel where the wind is hitting. then you can figure where i will be hitting with a shorter shield. you can stand up a bit to, to feel it.

Windvest makes adjustable ones. The're fairly small and inconspicuous but the fact that you can adjust them vertically and also rotate (rock) them forward and back a little allows you to change the air deflection a bit. I like mine I have on my Dyna.

Cosmic, I had the same problem on my Deluxe. I took mine to a glass shop had them cut it down. Cut it for $18.00. I had to mark it where I wanted it. Took a poster board cut out the same contuor as original. Dropped down about 1 1/2" and retraced contour. The cut edge looks original.

Anyway...sure beat's the heck outta $150, plus it'll be the exact height. Great! thanks Dc78

you really should ride a a bike equiped with a shorter ws before buying a new one, especially after becoming used to the regular height. The additional amount of wind buffetting with a shorty can be significant.
