What a sweet sound.
It's too late to say this, but your hearing is important and should be protected. I had a torn eardrum from a grenade, so my left ear rattles when the sounds get too loud. So earplugs for me, but the side effect has been my hearing has been protected.

After a nice long ride through the Blue Ridge Parkway, is nice to turn off the bike off and let the adrenaline calm down. Nice and quiet inside the garage, reach in the fridge and grab an Ice cold beer, that's when I take the time to polish her up and clean all the bugs from the batwing.... lol that's my winding down time .

So nice to read a positive thread about some true emotions we enjoy from riding our bikes!

there are a lot of gratifying sounds from motorcycles....a nice exhaust sure sounds good when riding

I agree, that ticking sound is a great thing to be hearing, the only way that is possible is if im home safe after a ride

another great sound I enjoy hearing is when I'm having a hard time getting a fastener to come loose and it makes that distinct little 'pop' and you know it came loose and you didn't strip it out

Well said, friend. Think after my next ride, I'll take a seat in the garage and just listen to that ticking for a moment.

Every time , right before my ride , I start the bike and just stand there for a minute , close my eyes , listen to that engine purr , then off I go .

It's like my bike is telling me " C'mon , lets go "

I know what you mean by the ticking , but I never did like getting home , always feel it's never long enough .

No cars around or they gave us the space we need (no "pushing" or cutting us off). We did the turns and leans as we should etc etc. You just have that awesome feeling that it just doesn't get any better than this and it was clearly a great ride.

Hokey and laugh if you want, but we've actually done high-fives after we pulled into the garage & kickstands down. Non riders wonder what the big deal is LOL
just remember only a biker knows why a dog sticks their head out of the window.

Also setting the mood;
Fragrance of non-catalyzed exhaust, with a hint of Marvel Mystery oil, warm oils and rubber.
