Riding in the big cities
How many of you ride regularly in the bigger cities? Im from ILL and having been to CHI many times in a car I have no desire to ride the bike thru there. Just went to Kansas City and for a stranger if anything it was even worse. Three lanes each one for a different highway and god forbid youre in the wrong lane. No one wants to let ya move over and the nuts on their cell phones aint payin attention. It sucks when you see em coming over and there is no where to go. All you folks that ride like this day to day have my admiration.

When I lived in San Francisco I would take the bike over the car any day. I could manuever so much better, especially when traffic stopped or slowed way down. I could never have survived without lane splitting . I would always cut a lot of time off my commute when I rode the bike and it was much more fun!

Have road around and though Chicago many times with little problems. Just depends on what day and time you go though as wheather you get caught in a traffic jam or not. I much rather do it on a motorcycle than in a car.

I'd rather be on the bike in city traffic than a car, there's so many advantages. I can see better, there's more room to manuver as I'm much smaller, I have better brakes and much better acceleration. Plus life's just more fun on a bike!

RE: Riding in the big cities
I have lived, and rode extensively, in Phoenix, L.A., St. Louis and Chicago. I now find myself riding over to Atlanta at least once or twice each month. Riding in the big city is just different - it is what it is.

RE: Riding in the big cities
Used to ride in Houston, found myself taking too many chances, doing 80 and weaving through traffic like a Tokyo courier(they are absolutely nutso kamakazis) I started to realize that although the adrenaline rushes were super, the chances of death were all too frequent. Have moved out to the country and don't do that anymore. If I lose it out here I most likely will end up in a ditch, but not dead. I'll go a 100mi out of my way to avoid city riding now.
